SAM-IMAGES.COM - Biography

A very warm welcome to SAM-IMAGES.COM (“Let the words be few, and expressions many”). There is an old adage, “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Yes, it's true. A picture or a photograph or an image worth a thousand words. They are all about unlimited expressions and photography or painting or creating any form of art are all different ways to present these expressions, which might not be well conversed through words only.

This is Sameen Khan (L.P.S.S*, MBA) and I am pleased to have you here on SAM-IMAGES.COM.

I am a Children & Family, Travel & Nature, and Events Photographer. I am absolutely inspired by the Moments which are so natural, beautiful, and candid and Memories which are so cherishing that you just get indulged in them. I think this is what I am hunting for as a photographer. My passion is to capture a child's beautiful smile and natural expressions as he/she grows, nature's absolute beauty, world's most amazing places and expressions which are beyond words.

"Motherhood"...., I don't know what does it mean to me but I just get moved when I think about its depth. To me, it's not just a word but a word with limitless and lovely expressions. I wish I am able to tell what it means to me through my photography.

I always thought, photography was just about taking nicely framed, crisp, sharp and well focused photographs with everything covered in them but in reality, it means way beyond this. There is no right or wrong way of photographing. It really depends upon you, your creativity, your imagination and how you see things around you. A photo can be taken from any angle (low, high, eyelevel, etc), in any form (finely focused, blurred, etc), in any composition of your choice and showing any expressions, it really depends upon how you want to take it and further present. Of course, there are certain rules (rule of third, DOF rule, camera shake rule, etc) of good photography but it is also exciting and challenging to break the rules and create something new. “Art of Seeing”, is what makes every photographer different from others.

In May 2007, I became a member of the Photographic Society of Singapore, took various photography (travel, studio, etc) courses and in August 2007, I sent my first ever collection of works in the 54^th Singapore International Photographic Awards (SIPA) 2007. Out of 12 photos sent, one of them which I named as “SOULS”, also shown in the Travel section of SAM-IMAGES.COM, got accepted among 404 acceptances out of 2035 entries from 32 countries. Although, my photo didn’t get publish in the competition catalogue of winners but my name did appear in its Digital Experimental Section ( http://www.sipa.org.sg/experimentals_54th.htm ) and this gave me a lot of motivation and an urge to take my hobby even further. Later on in Dec 2007, I was awarded a distinction in Digital Photography

and then *Licentiateship (L.P.S.S), in Mar 2008, by The Photographic Society of Singapore.

Some of my photographic works (Souls, Loneliness, Remains, Oldie, and A walk to ...?) were showed during Objectif's BUD Exhibition (Apr/May 2008), Singapore.

To keep myself active, I hardly miss any opportunity to volunteer to capture the expressions I am looking for.

Apart from photography, I have also bagged several Ladies Amateur Golf titles in the past but now take golf for leisure only.
